Danville, Contra Costa County
Danville was named in 1858, most likely for Daniel Inman, who had bought land here with money made in the gold fields. Hartz Avenue is still the main street, and the 1891 railroad depot a block away houses the Museum of the San Ramon Valley. An old oak tree standing in the middle of Diablo Road is a local landmark; the town incorporated in 1982.
